Sorry to hear about the decision. You should definitely send in some artwork though, it shows that you really are interested in the school. I wouldn't be too bummed though, I personally know two high school seniors that are both incredibly talented, well-rounded, science geniuses that were deferred as well. I think it's just a really tough pool of applicants for the SCEA.
